11 month update

Vincent’s 11 month was hectic.  It seems I say this in every blog, but this month was the worse. December is a very busy month in the family as there are lots of birthdays and dinners. Papa was on holidays the first week as there were a lot of doctors’ appointments and maman’s birthday.  The week started with his first haircut then with a hearing test at CHEO.  Vincent does have some hearing loss in one of his ears, but it’s caused from congestion behind the ear drum. For mamans birthday we went to Lonestar.  Vincent ate some chicken fingers and tried some of papa’s beans with his enchiladas. Vincent has really started loving food this week.  On December 5th, Vincent had three appointments. The first appointment was the family doctor for the second half of his flu shot.  Vincent was not impressed. The second appointment was his pediatrician. That’s where he got weighed and measured.  He weighed 24 pounds 15 oz and 29 inches long.  The pediatrician is very happy on his progress.  He met all his 12 month milestones.  He had just turned 11 months at the appointment.  I was worried that he wasn’t interested in walking, but she said he still has a lot of time.  The third appointment was the one I was the most nervous about.  It was the dietitian.  I was scared that we weren’t doing a good  job with his eating.  It went great.  She was happy that he was only eating what we were eating and not purees.  She then explained to us that we have to start the milk challenge with Vincent.

Here is the milk challenge we did.  The first day we would do 1 oz of cows milk and 3 oz of formula.  The second day was 2-2.  Third day was 3-1.  Then we took a break for 4 days.  On the fifth day we went to pure cow milk.  We need to keep an eye on him to make sure he isn’t losing weight, which is the side-effect he had with milk when he was born.  At the end of the month he wasn’t losing any weight, which mean the milk challenge is going great.

In the middle of the month, we had Soucy Christmas. We decided to practice a cake smash.  He got covered everywhere. We didn’t need to help him at all.  The next day was his first birthday and Christmas photoshoot.  He also got his last Starfish Swim class. He got his first certificate ever. Maman and papa were very proud. At the end of the month, we went to Sudbury to spend Christmas with my family.  Vincent loved spending time with the girls, but was scared of their yelling.
