2 minutes before the birth
Vincent’s birth was a very special
and stressful moment. I wasn’t ready to have a preemie. We had no clue how he would be. Babies born at 35 weeks can either be OK or
have problems. Sadly Vincent had a few issues. They thought he was born with a
hole in his lungs when it was actually water. There were many different things
that cause this and Vincent has the following issues:
·
Weaning
off of SSRI’s (my bipolar med)
·
Gestational
diabetes
·
Prematurity
·
Hypertension

Due to these issues Vincent was put
on C-pap. After eight hours he had to be
transferred to CHEO. After three days he
came off C-pap and put on nasal cannula for 3 days. On January 2nd, Vincent was
transferred back to Montfort to learn how to feed. It took him two weeks and a
lot of formula changes. Vincent has a milk allergy. While at Montfort his grand-maman Nicole and
godmother Melanie came to visit.
Once home it was a whole new
journey with him. We didn’t really get to know him until then. It was a very rough time, but after a few
days we were good. Vincent still had
many Dr. appointments to get weighed as they wanted to make sure he would gain
and not lose. Vincent was gaining on
average 42 grams a day, which is great. The average they want him to gain is at
least 30. His grand-maman Saumure came
to spend three weeks with us. Mom and dad both got to rest. At the same time we
got to train Vincent to sleep in his bassinet.
Vincent is looking cute after changing.
